Saw Lay Wah

(AUTOBIOGRAPHY)

Early Life 

Saw Lay Wah was Born on March 1, 1972 from the family of Pastor Saw Hla Chit and Naw Helen Chit. Saw Lay Wah is the eldest among the six siblings. 

Education and Marriage

                Born in Hpa-an, his childhood life started in a small village called Telaneh, Hlaing Bwe townhip, Karen state where his father served as a church pastor. Started his first year of schooling in Mawlamyine, where his father, Pr. Hla Chit was posted to serve as the Section Departmental and he continued his schooling from grade 2 to 8 in Yangon Junior Bible Seminary (JBS), now it is called Yangon Adventist Seminary, after the family had moved to Yangon to serve as Rangon Area Leader.  During that time, Grade 8 examination was conducted Union wide by Myanmar Union Education Department and he received the highest score in the Union Board examination. He went to Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary to continue his Secondary and Higher Secondary level education.  After completion of Division College Eligibility Certificate (DCEC) examination conducted by Education Department of Southern Asia Division in 1990, He went to Spicer Memorial College in Pune, India to continue his College education. He graduated from Spicer Memorial College, India with BLA degree (Major in religion and minor in occidental music) in 1995.  After graduation, he joined one of the renowned English Medium High in Pune city called “Hutching High School” as a music teacher. He was loved by all the teachers, principal, and students  of  the  school  because of his sense of humor,  musical talent and ability. After working in school for 2 years (1995 – 1997), he enrolled back again in Spicer Memorial College for Master program in the field of education. Earned a Master of Arts in Education (Curriculum & Instruction) from Andrews University, Michigan, USA in 1999.

                Saw Lay Wah Married to Mya Yee Win on December 21, 2003 and blessed with two sons.  He had experiences of working as Teacher, Adventist Volunteer (AVS) to South Korea, Project manager in Educational INGO in Thailand and ADRA Myanmar. He is now working as the principal of Yangon Adventist Seminary.

Carrer/ Ministry

                Saw Lay Wah returned to Myanmar after completion of his Master degree to serve in the church.  He first joined Yangon Adventist Seminary as an English and Music teacher in 1999 school year. He formed a student signing group named “The Dawn Singer” while he was serving as a music teacher in the school.  He was assigned to take up the responsibility of a principal when the principal, Pr. Claudius Brown, went to Philippine for further study. Therefore, from 2002 – 2005, he served as a school principal in Yangon Adventist Seminary. In 2005, MYUM had established an Adventist Language Education Center and he was assigned as an assistant director for that center. He served in the Adventist Language Education Center for a year and left to South Korea to join Adventist Volunteer Service for one year. After that, he joined an INGO to serve for the education of Refugees children in seven refugees camps along Thai-Burma Boarder in the capacity as a teacher trainer to Education project manager from 2007 to 2013.  He returned to Myanmar in 2013 April to join ADRA Myanmar as an Project Manager for Vocational/Educational Project.

                Saw Lay Wah, in 2016 joined back to Yangon Adventist Seminary as a Principal and continue to serve for three years.  In 2019 April, he joined back to ADRA Myanmar as a Project Director in one of ADRA Myanmar Education Project until now (2021).
