Maung Maung Myo Chan

                Maung Maung Myo Chan was an instructor and staff of various organizations of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Myanmar.

Early Life

Maung Maung Myo Chan, born on 18th October 1970, in Hpa-an, Kayin State, the youngest son of U Chan Gone and Daw Tin Tin Shwe belonging to the West Pwo Karen tribe. Both the parents were Adventist school teachers and after nationalization in 1963 they continued services for the education department of Kaw Thu Lei State. His father died at the age of 40 on 11th January 1975 in car accident. His mother died on 29th June 2016 at the age of 80.

Education and Marriage

Maung Maung Myo Chan began schooling at the State High School No. 2 in Hpa-an and completed high school in 1986. He studied in Hpa-an College through Second Year B.Sc specialized in Mathematics. Then studied in Mawlamyine University his Third Year B.Sc. In 1988 and 1990, the long closure of colleges and universities in Myanmar and he left for Pune, India. He studied Diploma in Computer Science Technical education in IIT, Pune and completed his Diploma in Computer Science in 1994. Then, started his career working in Patheja Group of companies, Pune, India 1995. He continued professional training in Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, SIBM, Pune, completed Postgraduate Diploma in Management in 1999. He did ministerial training in MUAS for MTC completed in 2020. He married to Nant Saung Wai Wai on 4th January 2000 in MUAS Chapel and the couple continued ministry in MUAS. He had a son S Pyi Sone Chan in 2005.

Ministry

                Maung Maung Myo Chan firstly joined as an instructor in Business Administration Department in MUAS on 1st August 1999. The MUAS administration assigned him to establish computer training program for the public in Myaungmya in 2003. The Asian earthquake 8.9 on 26th December 2004 and the tsunami hit in Myanmar coast made him as Project Manager, Tsunami relief and rehabilitation project in ADRA Myanmar. In 2000, moved to Yangon ADRA country office and served as a project director in ADRA Myanmar. In 2007, he was assigned as Public Relation Officer in ADRA Myanmar adding to his work. The cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar on 2-3 May 2008 and MYUM EC has assigned him as Nargis Response Coordinator doing relief work in Bogalay, Pyapon and Pathein areas. On 1st January 2009, MYUM has appointed him as Communication /PARL/AWR Department director till 31st December 2015. From January 2016 to 31st December 2017 he served as church pastor in North Dagon Adventist Church and district Pastor of Yangon East district in Yangon Adventist Mission. On 1st January 2018 he was assigned as department director PARL/Stewardship/PGTRS/Youth and ACS in Yangon Mission of Seventh-day Adventists.

Legacy

                Maung Maung Myo Chan made contributions to the governing organizations of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Myanmar. The initial establishment of CCIS in Myaungmya in 2003 which started computer training to the public with well- equipped computer facilities in Myaungmya. The center was recognized by Chairman of Division PDC and Commander   of South Western Command Major General Soe Naing and made visited to the center. As ADRA Myanmar Project Manager in 2005, implemented Tsunami relief project in Pyinsalu Sub-township, in Ayeyarwaddy Region. The assignment as Nargis Response Coordinator in 2008, the Relief and Rehabilitation project partnered with Metta Development Foundation has benefitted cyclone victims in Ama Sub-township, Pyapon district and Pathein Township. As MYUM Communication/PARL/AWR director in 2013, extended 4 new languages of AWR radio broadcast namely Pwo Kayin, Mon, Shan and Kachin. The FM broadcast in Thailand border partnered with MAP FM radio introduced Sgaw Kayin and Burmese languages. The achievement of Best studio award 2012 by Yangon Studio, Best studio award 2013 by Pyin Oo Lwin studio, Programing Excellent award 2015 by AWR Myanmar presented from AWR headquarters, GC. The initiative of AWR new studio in Pyin Oo Lwin has been fully funded to start construction in 2015 which completed construction in 2016.

                Under the guidance and decision of MYUM EC in 2012, the Adventist Community Services Myanmar was organized and implemented ACS, a registered as faith-based organization by MOHA. As executive director, pursued and implemented the first education project, funded by DIFID through Myanmar Education Consortium which benefited in 31 schools receiving 3400 students study materials, 250 teachers received training and 15 community schools completed construction in Hlaing Bwe, Kawkareik and Myawaddy Township in Kayin State till 2015. The program Management Committee of Yangon Mission of Seventh-day Adventists assigned as Program Director of FM radio internet online broadcast. In Sep 2020 The Advent FM online radio team was formed and started broadcast on air officially on 10th October 2020.
