Early Life
Ka Lu Mu was born in Taung Gu, Bago division. He was raised from a faithful third generation of the Adventist family. He has five brothers; Ka Lu Htoo, Ka Lu Say, Ka Lu Mu, Ka Lu Hser and Alvin Paul. Most of his brothers work in Mission except Ka Lu Say. His father was an Adventist pastor. Therefore, he had been learning a lot of pastoring works and receiving Biblical knowledge from his father. Unfailing morning and evening worship shaped his character, attitude, and love for the Lord. His mother is a calm and spiritual lady, and he also learned a lot from his mother about loving people and tactical interpersonal skills.
As a pastor’s son, he had to move from place to place with his father wherever the posting was assigned. Most of his early life was spent in Twan Tay and MUAS. His early teenage life is hugely influenced by the environment where his father is assigned. He had been accustomed to drugs, violence, and alcoholism since he was young. However, because of his parents’ persistent prayer and teaching, he overcame those violent and addictive cultures. 1
Education / Marriage/Ministry
In 1986, due to the examination on the sabbath, he could not continue in the public school while he was in Tway Tay. As a result, he went to the Myanmar Union Bible seminary. He started studying grade 9 at Union Bible Seminary in 1987. He finished his first degree in 20072. Three days after his graduation, he married Khin Mar Lwin and was immediately assigned as a pastor in Kyauktaing Church. He worked as a pastor in Kyauktaing for four years, where he learned a lot about leadership, pastoring, organizing social events and preaching. He started joining the Master of Ministry (DLC) program during those years that changed his way of thinking and opened his eyes to the ministry. He got opportunities to apply new knowledge while pastoring in the Kyauktaing church that he learned from the MMin class. Therefore, he regards the pastoring life in Kyauktaing as the most learning experience he would ever receive for his future career. Ka Lu Mu has three children; the eldest son is Jon Paul, born on December 28, 2008, and the second daughter is Abigail Paul, born in April 2001, and the youngest son is Kathay Wah Paul, born in Taung Gu.
In 2002 he went to the Philippines. In 2003, he finished M min in AIIAS, which he started in 2009 while pastoring in Kyautaing church and 20043, he finished his MA in Education. After he came back from AIIAS, he served two years in Mountain View Junior Bible seminary. In the year 20064, He was assigned to work in Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary (MYUM) as a dormitory dean. His assignment to the Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary has a reason. Because at that time, MUAS was facing a sudden administrative and disciplinary crisis to carry on the school’s operation. Therefore, Ka Lu Mu considered the hostel dean assignment an excellent opportunity to serve the church when a hostel dean was needed.
He worked as a hostel dean until 2010; during those years, he had also led a worthy student program of the MUAS and improved campus development such as the construction of cement roads, levelling the whole campus under the direction of the MUAS administration. In the year 20115, he was elected as a vice president for students’ admiration; during those years, he was able to dig a valuable well to provide drinking water for the whole college campus. Moreover, he was able to install a pipeline to supply drinking water to the whole campus and water supply, but he has not finished serving the whole term yet; in the year 2013, due to his son’s ear impairment-related medication purpose, he went to Korea for his son’s cochlear implementation. As a result, he took a break without pay for seven months from ministry. When he came back from Korea in March 2014, he worked as an ordinary teacher in MUAS. In the year 20166, he was elected again as a VP for Student Administration. During those years, he was again able to dig a vast well for the girl’s dormitory and cafeteria. Again, the second term for Vice President for Student Administration has not finished yet; in 20187, he was assigned as a Myanmar Union Mission Buddhist Ministry and Advocacy for South East Asia and Persecuted (ASAP) coordinator until 2020. During those years, he started some Buddhist ministry-related income-generating projects with the support of the ASAP ministry in the Central Myanmar and Irrawaddy mission. In the year 20218, he was elected as an executive secretary of South East Mission.
