Early Life
Solomon Soe was born on May 20, 1972 at Pan Ta Naw General Hospital in Pan Ta Naw township, Ayeyarwady Division, Myanmar, to U Soe Maung and Daw Pan Kyaing. During that time, his father was pastoring the Seventh-Day Adventist church at Ka Zin Gu village in Pan Ta Naw Township. He spent his early childhood at Ka Zin Gu village where his parents were working for the church. Later, his family moved to Myaung Mya where he was raised and spent much of his childhood over there. He is the youngest son in the family. He has four siblings – Rhoda Soe, Rachael Soe, Ro Anna Soe and Wilson Soe. He was baptized in December, 1985, Myaung Mya, Ayeyarwady Division. His mother passed away on March 22, 2005 and his father, a retired pastor, who served the Lord for many years, passed away on December 6, 2014. Both of them belonged to the Karen tribe and served the Seventh-day Adventist Church for many years as faithful workers until retirement.
Education and Marriage:
Solomon Soe was educated in Junior Bible School-JBS (Ayeyarwady Mission Adventist Seminary-AMAS, later changed to Ayeyarwady Adventist Seminary-AYAS) from 1980 to 1982 for much of his childhood in Myaung Mya where he studied from Grade 1 through Grade 4. After his family moved to Pathein, Ayeyarwady Division, in 1983, he joined a State Government High School called Basic Education High School (BEHS) No. (5) where he studied from Grade 5 through Grade 8. Due to the Sabbath problem, he joined Union Bible Seminary-UBS (later Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary) which is located in Myaung Mya where he studied Grade 9 and Grade 10. In 1989, he passed the DHSC examination (Grade 10) and in 1991, he passed the DCEC examination (Plus 2). In 1992, after completing 1st year at Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary (MUAS), he went to Spicer Memorial College (Spicer Adventist University), India, where he pursued BBA for one year. After that, he returned to Myanmar and re-joined Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary (MUAS) where he continued his studies in Religion and finally obtained a B.A degree in March, 1996. At that time, B.A Religion was the only program that was offered at Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary. In 2006, after serving at AYAS (Ayeyarwady Adventist School, Myaung Mya, Myanmar) for 10 years, he continued his further studies at Spicer Memorial college (Spicer Adventist University), India, together with his wife Naw Birdie Sein, where he obtained M.A degree in Education (Andrews University Program-USA), in March, 2008.
Solomon Soe had been blessed with a lady called Naw Birdie Sein and on December 20, 1998, they got married at Ayeyarwady Adventist School in Myaung Mya, which was the same place where they met and had worked together at the same school. Naw Birdie Sein who was born on November 19, 1971, was the daughter of Pastor Herbert Sein (former President of Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary) and Daw Priscilla Sein. Solomon Soe worked together with his wife, Naw Birdie Sein, at Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary from 2017 to 2018. Sadly, after being married for 20 years and working together for ten years at AYAS and a year at MUAS, Naw Birdie Sein passed away on June 15, 2018. They had no children.
Career/Ministry
After graduating in 1996 from Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary (MUAS), Solomon Soe was appointed to serve at Ayeyarwady Mission Adventist Seminary (AMAS) (now Ayeyarwady Adventist Seminary-AYAS) where he worked as a probationary multi-grade teacher for 2 years. On January 1, 1999, he was granted a regular status and appointed to serve as a cashier at AMAS where he worked for 3 years. Then on January 1, 2002, he was promoted to work as a school treasurer at the same school where he worked for three and half years. On July 1, 2005, after serving at AMAS for 10 years, he resigned from his work and continued his education at Spicer Memorial College, India, together with his wife where he obtained a M.A degree in Education in March, 2008.
After completing his M.A Education at Spicer Memorial College, he returned to Myanmar and then joined ADRA Myanmar on October 1, 2008, where he began to work as a senior accountant in the finance department at ADRA Myanmar Headquarters, Yangon, Myanmar. In 2010, he was appointed as a finance officer to manage the finance activities of the projects which were implemented in the villages of Laputta township, Ayeyarwady Division. In 2011, after working in Laputta for one year as a finance officer, he was appointed as a Program Coordinator to work in the Department of Program at ADRA Myanmar Headquarters, Yangon, where he was assigned to manage food security projects in Shan State, Dry Zone and Chin State and livelihood project in Shan State. In 2012, he was shifted to the Finance Department and appointed to work as a Deputy Finance Director. In 2013, his position was changed to Assistant Finance Director and he continued working with the finance team in the finance department until the end of 2013. In 2014, he was again appointed as a program coordinator and assigned to manage development and emergency projects which were implemented in Chin State, Shan State, Karen State and Magway Division until the end of June, 2017.
On July 1, 2017, he joined Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary and was appointed to serve as a Chief Accountant in the finance Department. On January 1, 2018, after working as the Chief Accountant for 6 months, he was appointed to serve MUAS as the Vice President for Financial Administration till today.
